ACCIONA has been awarded the mixed services and works contract to maintain and upkeep 165 kilometres of the highways network in the Murcia region.The four-year contract is worth approximately seven million euros (excl. VAT).
ACCIONA will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of 75 kilometres of multi-lane highways (RM1, RM12 and RM19) and around 12 kilometres of conventional highway (RM301 and T-301) in the municipalities of Cartagena, Murcia, San Javier and Torre Pachecho.The most significant works to be carried out include improving the surface of the RM-19.
The contract also includes works to repair safety barriers, joints, railings and parapets, graffiti removal and clearing out ditches, kerbs and drains.
ACCIONA will also provide the accident and emergency roadside service for these roads, within a maximum period of 45 minutes from notification.This will require a surveillance service available 24-hours a day, 365 days of the year, to identify irregularities or incidents in the state of these highways as quickly as possible.
It will also establish a winter highways management service between October and March to deal with any weather events that could affect traffic conditions, principally rainfall.
All of the works will be coordinated from the Highways Maintenance Centre located on the RM-F30 highway in the municipality of Los Alcázares and using the Web SmartRoads software application to improve the management of the service.
