ACCIONA Construction was one of the sponsors of the Hotel Refurbishment Workshop organised by the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH), held on 23 May in Valencia.
The purpose of this workshop was to present the latest trends, designs and technologies and the most innovative materials on the market, all focussing on a single issue – sustainability of buildings and the processes involved in their refurbishment.
During the workshop, several companies and institutions gave a variety of presentations focusing on integral hotel refurbishment, proposing various efficient solutions.
Ignacio González, Refurbishment Project Manager at ACCIONA Construction’s Technology Centre, gave a presentation entitled “Innovating to build and refurbish sustainable hotel spaces”, in which he explained the current trends in hotel refurbishment, focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability as the keys to competing in the sector.
Ignacio González spoke about the different stages of a refurbishment project and the advantages of using the BIM methodology in construction management, as well as integrating renewable energies into projects of this kind.
He referred to some of the refurbishment jobs that ACCIONA Construction has completed at emblematic hotels such as Madrid’s Hotel Palace, the Hotel Club Marítimo in Sotogrande and the National Parador in Cáceres, making it one of the most experienced companies in these projects.
